Our cheese & wine tasting is based on our cheese tasting.  So by this, you will encounter 6 categories of artisanal South African cheeses. We add three different wines to the game and explain the principles of cheese and wine pairing to show how the wine complements and enhances the culinary experience with the cheese.

For our cheese tastings we follow the principles of the composition of a classical French cheese platter. As such you will get introduced to a sample of each of these cheese types:

  • Fresh/Unripened cheese including goats cheese
  • Soft, mold-ripened cheese
  • Soft, washed-rind cheese
  • Semi-firm cheese
  • Hard, aged cheese
  • Blue Cheese

Together with the cheese board we provide water and bread to cleanse the palate as well as jam, preserves, fruit and nuts to complement and enhance the flavours.

                    Vrede en Lust is a family owned and managed wine business nestled at the foothills of the Simonsberg in South Africa's most celebrated Franschhoek wine valley. With vineyards in the Paarl, Simonsberg-Paarl and Elgin areas Vrede en Lust offers award-winning boutique wines renowned for their outstanding balance, elegance and reflection of terroir.
                    The Vrede en Lust and its wines demonstrate the growing importance of ladies in the industry with cellar master Karlin Nel at the helm, and viticulturist Annette Human running Casey’s Ridge farm in Elgin.
